Getting from Agadir Airport to the city and Taghazout#
Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) sits about 25 km south-east of the city centre, roughly a 25–30 minute drive. Once you land, you have three realistic ways to reach Agadir or the coast: a taxi, a local bus, or a pre-booked private transfer. Here is how each one works, so you can decide before you arrive.
Option 1: Taxi#
Taxis wait directly outside arrivals and are the simplest choice if you value speed and door-to-door convenience. The ride to central Agadir takes around 25–30 minutes, while Taghazout, about 45 km up the coast, is closer to 45–50 minutes.
Expect to negotiate, or better, to agree the price before you get in. Airport taxis are not always metered and will often quote a flat rate depending on your destination and how many people are travelling. As a rough guide, a taxi into Agadir is cheaper than continuing to Taghazout, and both cost more at night. If you would rather not negotiate after a long flight, a pre-booked transfer removes the guesswork.
Option 2: Local bus#
A public bus runs between the airport and Agadir, and it is by far the cheapest option. It is slower, stops along the way, and is best if you are travelling light and on a budget. Head-luggage and timing matter — services are not as frequent as in a big European city, so check the current schedule on arrival rather than assuming a departure every few minutes.
This option works well for Agadir itself, but it is not a good fit for Taghazout or the resort areas, which are not on the direct airport route.
Option 3: Private transfer (recommended)#
A pre-booked private transfer is the option most guests choose, and for good reason: a driver meets you in arrivals with your name on a sign, helps with luggage, and takes you straight to your door — no haggling, no waiting, and a fixed price agreed in advance. For families, late arrivals or anyone with surfboards and extra luggage, it removes almost all of the friction of the first hour in Morocco.
We arrange airport transfers for all our guests, to Agadir, Taghazout and beyond, with prices confirmed before you travel. If you are staying with us, just tell us your flight details and we will take care of the rest.
A few practical tips#
- Have some dirhams ready. You will want cash for a taxi or bus; ATMs exist at the airport but queues can be long.
- Confirm your destination address in writing. "Agadir" is a big area, and drivers need the neighbourhood or residence name.
- Ask about the return leg. Booking both directions at once is usually cheaper and saves a scramble on your last day.
- Factor in the season. In peak summer and around school holidays, roads and pick-up points are busier, so allow extra time.
Arriving at your apartment#
If you are staying in one of our Aliya Luxury Apartments, you do not have to think about any of this. We can meet you at the airport, walk you in, and give you the local lowdown — where to eat, which beach to swim at, and how to get around. It is the calmest possible start to a holiday on the Souss-Massa coast.
Whichever option you choose, the transfer itself is short. Within an hour of landing, you can be on the sand.
